COLDFIELD released our debut EP 'THE SILENT' , via Tunecore, in March 2017.
Since then,we've had INSANE reviews and feedback on the EP, from reviewers and fans all over the world.
But yet, we still have people asking us 'When are you releasing your music?'
It seems that in an industry driven by singles and albums, an EP release just falls through the cracks.
We thought that we'd enlighten our fans and whoever else would like to know, what an EP actually is and what it means for a band to release one.
An EP, or extended play, is a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single, but is usually too short to be seen as an album.
This goes back to the vinyl era.
EPs do not contain as many tracks as albums, and are considered "less expensive and time-consuming" for an artist to produce than a full album.
So in nutshell, for an Indie band, paying for the recording, producing, mastering and distribution out of the band's pocket, an EP is easier to put out, without selling a kidney, your car (funny story, but we'll get to that in a later post) or go into debt to put out music to the masses.
So in conclusion - an EP is BASICALLY a mini album or compilation of singles.
In the case of our EP, we have 5 HARD ROCK tracks, with crazy catchy melodies, pounding low-end guitars, growling bass and drum lines that would make you want to go out and buy a drum kit ASAP.
